Theme Digest 8 : Processions

"Here at the Theme Digest lab, we aim to communicate a mood ... a feeling ... a concept ... using no better tool than the gift of sound.

The same concept can be compared visually to photography ... Communicating a feeling through a photograph—a mere flat rectangle with lines, shapes, tones, and (sometimes) colors—is not easy.

But it can be done.

A procession is traditionally an organized body of people walking in a formal or ceremonial manner, but let's extend the barriers a bit and imagine not only humans processing, but also processions of birds, of clouds, of elephants, of ants, of stars and on and on!"

As always,

Scotty Lee's Timebomb Mix

This week my good pal, Scotty Lee of the extremely rockin' Birmingham band, \\GT// created this wildly intense (and highly entertaining!) mixtape called (and I quote!)

My Head Is A Sinking Time Bomb. This Is How You Feel Me

Mr. Lee had the following to say about his epic playlist :

"this mix is a mix of mixing inspiration is due to the sharp lines and harsh melodies. kill your self and be reborn. make the ghost feel alive again. every time i wake up another death becomes life. hope you enjoy."

You can download Scotty's mix RIGHT HERE.

You can also ROCK OUT to his band below on Birmingham's own "We Have Signal" :

Theme Digest 7 : Night

"Here at the Theme Digest lab, we aim to communicate a mood ...  a feeling ... a concept ...  using no better tool than the gift of sound.

The same concept can be compared visually to photography ... Communicating a feeling through a photograph—a mere flat rectangle with lines, shapes, tones, and (sometimes) colors—is not easy.

But it can be done.

Night isn't just the period of time between the sunset and the sunrise. It can also be looked at metaphorically. While some writers chose to romanticize night by calling it 'Lovers' time of the day,' others portrayed it as 'A spiral of never-ending destruction.' A famous metaphor of night 'To walk the night' is used to signify one's struggle. Other metaphor, such as 'The night is dark, and I am far from home: Lead Thou me on!' depicts the endless darkness that is associated with night which can be ended with a torch of light only."
