On this PTR episode, we kick off a monthly series where we explore various film soundtracks that either rescue a bad movie from mediocrity or outshine the movie entirely… We begin with The Flaming Lips and their stellar experimental soundtrack to their rather lackluster low budget film Christmas On Mars, which fuses synthetic orchestral elements with choral harmonies and electronic effects to create a wondrous expanse of psychedelic splendor!

This show's feature finds us conducting a new Sit+Listen session, in which we experience a masterpiece of an album from start to finish! This time, we’ll be taking in the debut album of Irondale, AL’s own Vernal Scuzz : a raw and powerful new band full of idiosyncratic concepts, whose sounds land somewhere between proto-punk and primeval ceremony! They’ll also be in the studio to talk about the album and perform some special live tracks!
