So ... change is in the air ... the days are shorter and the air is getting colder ... This is definitely my most favorite time of the year ... I found myself one day suddenly rearranging my bedroom (something I hadn't done in many, many moons) and it was such a blockage-removing and cathartic experience ... yes!

I'm still getting ready for the upcoming Moss Rock festival, which is THIS WEEKEND, but i also finally finished all of my postcards (never painted postcards before!) for an upcoming group postcard show in Puerto Rico (!) ...

looky =

This past weekend was gloriously HALLOWEEN ... and it was a pretty good one, especially Saturday night (the nite before Halloween) ... here's a rather amazing promo video that Three Happenin Guys' lead singer, Dustin Timbrook did for the show we played that nite =

That nite, my band Nowhere Squares played our 1st show in 2 1/2 years and it was also our 1st show ever with new bassist, Andy Sizemore ... he did an excellent job, too! It was uber fun ...

Here we are in our priestly garb =

Shining Path played 1st in dresses and were awesome as ever ... They have a brand new album out called "Pimps Dreamz" ... then we threw down and Three Happenin Guys were after us ... they were all dressed as Insane Clown Posse juggalos ... it was a wild whirlpool of excitement ...

Here's me & my wonderful man, Ryan ... he broke his arm the previous Thursday nite but still did a fantastic job on keyboards at the show ...

partners in crime =

And now, the PUMPKIN portion of our show ... haha ...

1st we have my brother, Peter with not only an uncarved punkin, but a really disturbing costume! yikes! =

Witness our very pumpkiny front door =

Bottletree had an extra punkin after their carving contest and Merrilee let me carve a "Hellraiser" B one =

I also did a special punkin for Ryan just cuz he's so spectacular =

Lastly, because last week was so unHalloweeny and HOT, Peter's punkin really suffered ...
Witness the stages of it's slow and moldy demise =

going ...

going ...

gone!

Halloween is the spiritual new year ... and today is known as the Day Of The Dead ... the veils are lifted and from here we begin again ... Also, I'm celebrating FIVE whole years of being vegan ... hurrah!

Ryan and I spent actual Halloween day hiking around Ruffner Mountain ... it was nice ... lots of trees and leaves and much needed silence ... He also caught his lucky October leaf!

Here's a photo I took of him in the door of their "nature center" =

That night, Peter built the first fire of the season, which turned out to be a real real good'un ... It was a quiet but very mystical and enchanting Samhain =

This week I chose a lot of autumnal, Halloweeny videos ...

Here are 2 from Dead Can Dance =

Doug Baulos posted this great spooky one from Black Heart Procession (thanks, Doug!) =

Peter posted this Bauhaus song (cheers!) and had this to say about it:

"this song will always and forever give me that Fall/Halloween feeling. so creepy...such a lost and desolate feeling."

I put this song on the mix this week and remembered that the video is pretty beautiful =

And again, Ryan provides us with dessert ... it's not very autumnal (well it is in an Alabama way, haha) ... thanks for the laughter, Ryan! I hope yer arm heals fast! =
