All Souls Mix

Ah ... November ... If you look at it the wrong way, it could be seen as perhaps the gloomiest month of the whole year, and the main reason for that is twofold =

1. The magic and excitement of Halloween is suddenly over and gone.

2. The time changes and the cold Winter begins to draw closer and closer.

BUT

There are still some things to make November a happy and worthwhile month! Later, there's always Thanksgiving Day to look forward to ... and also Nov. 2nd (TOMORROW) is All Souls Day , or the Day of the Dead ...

A lot of folks don't really celebrate this occasion, but here in Birmingham, we REALLY do ... at the Dia de los Muertos Festival, which is always fun as hell and amazing ... If you wanna go, it's located at :

The fenced lot at
2115 1st Avenue South
Birmingham, AL

Enter on 1st Ave South at 22nd St or R. Arrington Jr. Blvd. Admission is $10 (13yrs & older), $3 (12yrs - 7yrs), free (6yrs & younger). Food, adult & kid beverages, adult & kid t-shirts, masks, art, and calvera face-painting will be available for purchase. No BYOB. The festival is outside, rain or shine. Bands, dancers, spoken word, procession, second-line, remembrance, and free art activities for children will be featured as always!

You should come out! It really is a ton of fun!!!
To learn more about it, just go RIGHT HERE.

Anywaaaay, speaking of the Day of the Dead, which is All Souls Day, here is the mystically magic and slightly macabre All Souls Mix to herald in the beginning of "spiritual new year" ... ENJOY!!!

Check out the "artist spotlight" they did on me RIGHT HERE! You should come out and join me! I'll be in tent 305!!! You can find out more about the festival RIGHT HERE. Do it!!!

And if yer as big of a Tom Waits fan as I am, I have a treat for you! His marvelous album "Bad As Me" is out now and my pal John Wendel sent me a link to a grrreat NPR interview with the man ... You can listen to it HERE. Thanks a ton, John!

And one more piece of random goodness ... Astoundingly, The Flaming Lips recently released 24 HOUR song! What's more, is they released it physically encased in 13 individual HUMAN SKULLS, each costing exactly $5,000 !!! Haha ... nutty!!!
You can hear the crazy 24 hour song streaming right HERE.
