Focal Point : Hugo Largo

This month (July) Psychic Tuesday focuses on the serenely beautiful sounds of an amazing and seriously underrated obscure band from the late 1980's, Hugo Largo (from left to right, Mimi Goese, Tim Sommer, Adam Peacock & Hahn Rowe)

The band consisted of two bassists, an electric violinist, an incredible vocalist and NO drummer. Truly original. Nothing like Hugo Largo has existed since.
HERE is a very informative blog about the band.

I've loved Hugo Largo for many years. It always saddens me that they only recorded 2 albums. Their music is transcendentally calm. Something about it conjures up the ocean with its vast moving acres of life-filled water. Something about it makes me think of the long, hot, tranquil days of Summer.

So what are the members up to now? Their site gives us a couple of clues HERE
Mimi made a couple of solo albums, Hahn has composed a lot of film scores, Adam has been working under the name "summer va" and Tim has a new album coming out this Fall called "Uncommon Folk".

Thank you, Hugo Largo for creating such exquisitely unique and amazingly pretty songs.

Now ...lie down, close your eyes
and
ENJOY.

You may now download the mix RIGHT HERE.

And now, a handful of Hugo Largo videos!

Here's the only music video the band ever made.
It's for the wonderful "Turtle Song"

"Scream Tall" live

"Fancy" (a Kinks cover) live

"Turtle Song" live

and lastly, here is an interview with Hugo Largo

>>>>RANDOM NEWS<<<<<

The opening for my "Silent Majority" painting exhibit at Wellborn Ideas in Mobile AL was a total and complete success!!! It took place during their monthly Art Walk, so there was a TON of folks there! I also had the pleasure of seeing many old friends and my family (I'm from Mobile), along with meeting a lot of great folks for the 1st time. It was an absolute whirlwind of excitement and constant conversation!

Afterwards, Ryan & I were treated to all-night karaoke and pool swimming at Elise and Marc's! It was such a blast!!!

Also, Elise posted this link to some "lovely sky monster" ...
View the awesome majesty of thunderstorm clouds HERE.
